Darren Waterston

Despite my almost slavish devotion to figurative art, one of my most favorite artists is painter Darren Waterston. To me his work is a blend of the transcendental and the macabre (yet beautiful) aspects of organic decay.
His newest show opens at Greg Kucera Thursday (12/3) night. This latest series reminds me of northern forests. I can't wait to see it in person.

I love the term "transcendental... aspects of organic decay." Sounds like the title of an album by 70s greats Hawkwind or the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

It does! Mmmm....organic decay.
I got to go to a dinner for Darren last night and I was a bit nervous to meet him. But he is the sweetest guy ever. So nice when that happens.
